Ron Katz, Ph.D.

Senior Advisor and Consultant

Ron Katz, a part-time consultant to the Company since January 2015, has served since 2009 as a Senior Technology Licensing Officer, Technology Transfer Share, Health Sciences at Columbia Technology Ventures, the technology transfer arm of Columbia University. In that capacity he manages a diverse portfolio of over 200 intellectual property assets and negotiates licensing, sponsored research and other arrangements involving the university’s technology portfolio. Mr. Katz received a B.A. in Molecular and Cellular Biology from the University of California at Berkeley, a Ph.D. in Neurobiology and Behavior from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and an M.B.A. from the Columbia Business School.

Richard Purcell

Senior Advisor and Consultant

Mr. Purcell has served as a director of the Company since 2006 and served as the Chief Operating Officer and Acting CEO of the Company from June 2004 to December 2013. Mr. Purcell has over 30 years experience in biopharmaceutical development and marketing, He is a biopharmaceutical development specialist, with extensive experience in providing consulting services to financial, venture capital, and start-up companies. Since 2001, Mr. Purcell has been President DNA Healthlink, which, together with its affiliated technology partners, offers data solutions through consulting, software, middleware, and hardware implementation to meet the challenges facing companies in the life science sectors, including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical devices, clinical research organizations, hospitals and clinical sites. He has served since 2011 as President and CEO of IntelliSanté, a patient-centric, medical informatics company; since October 2014 as Senior Vice President, R&D, of Cortex Pharmaceuticals, a biopharmaceutical company currently engaged in the discovery and development of drugs for the treatment of respiratory disorders. Mr. Purcell started his career as a molecular biologist, where he developed and patented a second generation TPA with increased half-life. He has also conducted primary research and published manuscripts on the topics of AIDS and immunomodulators. Mr. Purcell graduated with a degree in Biochemical Sciences from Princeton University, and attended Rutgers Graduate School of Management, majoring in marketing and finance.
